Located in the high desert on the eastern slope of the Sierra Nevada Mountains in California, Mono Lake is one of the most amazing lakes in the USA. This incredible lake is a large saline water lake about eight thousand feet above the sea level. Mono Lake is the oldest lake in North America. It was formed at least 700,000 years ago. It is a beautiful lake with magical limestone towers on the surface.
This incredible lake was formed as a terminal lake in a basin that has no outlet to the ocean. The lack of an outlet means water entering the lake from Eastern Sierra streams leaves only through evaporation. This, in turn, results in high concentrations of salts and minerals being left behind in the lake.
The most prominent feature of this lake is its incredible tufa towers emerging from the surface of the lake. The tufa towers are limestone towers and occur naturally in the Mono Lake. These limestone towers form from the reaction when underwater springs (rich in calcium) mix with the waters of the lake (rich in carbonates).
Seven Falls in Colorado Springs is one of the most amazing waterfalls in the United States of America. It is a series of seven cascading waterfalls of South Cheyenne Creek in South Cheyenne Canyon in Colorado. The falls tumbles 181 feet down a solid cliff of granite making it a sight to look at. Seven Falls offer a breathtaking natural beauty with seven distinct falls and 224 steps. The natural scenery around the falls is also fascinating.
Seven Falls in Colorado Springs is made up of seven separate waterfalls. Each of these waterfalls have their own name and they are different from each other in nature too. The name of the seven beautiful falls are: 1) Ramona Falls, 2) Feather Falls, 3) Bridal Veil Falls, 4) Shorty Falls, 5) Hull Falls, 6) Weimer Falls, and 7) Hill Falls. All these mesmerizing waterfalls make up the big one - the Seven Falls.
Seven Falls in Colorado Springs is one of the most popular waterfalls in Colorado. Visitors can get a bird’s eye view of the falls from the Eagle's Nest viewing platform. Thor's Well is a salt water fountain driven by the power of the ocean tide located in Cape Perpetua (a typical Pacific Northwest headland), Oregon. It is basically a deep hole in the rocks off a rough stretch of the Oregon coastline in the USA. As the waves crash in, it fills up, spouts water 20 feet in the air and overflows, before sucking the water back in and out to sea.
It is a pretty dramatic place to visit. This natural spectacle is at its best when it is the most dangerous to watch. Thor's Well is best seen approximately an hour before high tide to an hour after high tide.

Havasu Falls is an amazing waterfall located within the Havasupai Indian Reservation in Grand Canyon National Park. This picturesque waterfall is a hidden gem of the great Grand Canyon. Havasu Falls is possibly the most famous and most visited of all the falls on Havasu Creek. The configuration of the falls is ever-changing and sometimes breaks into two separate chutes of water due to the high mineral content of the water.
The main chute of water drops about 100 feet (30 meter) over a vertical cliff into a large pool of blue-green water. The vibrant blue water contrasts against the striking red rocks of the canyon walls as Havasu Falls plunges into a wide pool of blue-green waters. Havasu Falls is well known throughout the world for the natural pools created by mineralization. Calcium carbonate and magnesium occur naturally in the waters of Havasu Creek. High calcium carbonate concentration in the water creates the vivid blue-green color and forms the natural travertine dams that occur in various places near the falls. And since the creek originates from a spring, the water rarely deviates from 21.1 C year round.
Havasu Falls can be reached in different ways including a 16 kilometer hike that starts at Hualapai Hilltop. Guided tours are also available from the local Havasupai tribe. You'll also find overnight lodges and camping grounds nearby.

Located about 100 kilometers southeast of Seattle, in the United States, Christine Falls is an amazing waterfall. Christine falls has two waterfalls - a 32 feet (9.8 meters) high upper drop and a 37 foot (11 meters) high lower drop. The two drops make a total height of 69 feet (21 meters). Interestingly, there is a bridge between the two drops. Christine Falls is possibly best known for the bridge spanning above the lower drop.

However, the bridge makes it almost impossible to photograph the two falls together. For this reason, the lower drop is more popular and more photographed. It is probably one of the most commonly photographed locations in the Mount Rainier area. The falls was named in honor of Christine Van Trump, the daughter of P. B. Van Trump, who accompanied her father on an ascent of Mount Rainier in 1889, at an age of just nine.

Located in southwestern Utah in the United States of America, Bryce Canyon National Park is an amazing landscape. The major feature of the park is the beautiful Bryce Canyon. It is a collection of giant natural amphitheater created by erosion over the years. The canyon is regarded as one of Utah's most incredible natural attractions. Bryce Canyon National Park is also known for its brightly colored spires and hoodoos.
Bryce Canyon National Park is distinctive because of the amazing geological structures called hoodoos. Some of these hoodoos are up to 200 feet high and were formed by wind, water, and ice erosion of the river and lake bed sedimentary. The red, orange, and white colors of the rocks provide spectacular views for park visitors.
Bryce Canyon National Park covers an area of about 145 square kilometers and lies at an elevation between 8,000 to 9,000 feet above sea level. It is much higher than the elevations of nearby Zion National Park and the Grand Canyon. Due to this higher elevation, Bryce Canyon National Park has a substantially different ecology and climate from the other two National Parks in Utah.
Bryce Canyon National Park is one of the most attractive national parks in the United States of America. However, the park receives relatively few visitors compared to Zion National Park and the Grand Canyon. This is largely due to the fact that the park is situated in a remote location.

The Crazy Horse Memorial is a huge mountain monument complex in the Black Hills, in South Dakota, United States. It is an immense statue honoring the Lakota leader Crazy Horse and is under construction. The monument is being carved out of Thunderhead Mountain in the Black Hills. The Crazy Horse Memorial depicts Crazy Horse riding a horse and pointing into the distance. Once completed, it may become the world's largest sculpture.
The monument has been in progress since 1948 and is far from completion. The sculpture's final dimensions are planned to be 641 feet (195 meters) wide and 563 feet (172 meters) high. The head of Crazy Horse will be 87 feet (27 meters) high. The original sculptor Korczak Ziolkowski passed away in 1982, but his family remain heavily involved in the completion of the monument. The Crazy Horse Memorial is supposed to become the world's largest sculpture as well as the first non-religious statue to hold this record since 1967.
The largest monument in the world at the moment is the Spring Temple Buddha in China, which is 420 feet tall. However, once the Crazy Horse Memorial is completed, it will dwarf this by 140 feet. The Crazy Horse Memorial consists of the mountain carving, the Indian Museum of North America, and the Native American Cultural Center. It is operated by the Crazy Horse Memorial Foundation, a private non-profit organization.

The Glory Hole is a spillway in Monticello Dam in California. It is
technically known as the Morning Glory Spillway. However, it is locally
known as The Glory Hole. The Glory Hole of Monticello Dam is the largest
morning glory spillway all over the world.
It is a classic, uncontrolled spillway and is 72 feet wide at the intake. The spillway narrows to 28 feet at the spout below the dam. The Glory Hole is around 700 feet from its entry to exit. The main purpose of the Glory Hole, the funnel-shaped outlet, is to allow water to bypass the dam when it reaches capacity.
The spillway swallows water at a rate of 48,800 cubic feet per second through an enormous concrete pipe. It is designed to handle a maximum of 362,000 gallons of water per second in a rather curved manner going straight down, twisting a little, then spitting out.
Monticello Dam was constructed between 1953 and 1957 in Napa County in California. It is a medium concrete-arch dam with a structural height of 304 feet and a crest length of 1,023 feet. It contains 326,000 cubic yards (249,000 m³) of concrete. The capacity of the reservoir is 1,602,000 acre·feet.
