Saint Petersburg - The Symbol of Russia

Saint Petersburg is without a doubt one of the most stunningly beautiful cities in the world. It is regarded as the 'Venice of the North' because of its numerous canals and more than 400 bridges. Built in the 18th century by Peter the Great, Saint Petersburg is the symbol of Russia.


The Russian City of Saint Petersburg is located on the Neva River at the head of the Gulf of Finland on the Baltic Sea. Saint Petersburg is one of the most recognizable European cities, thanks largely to its baroque and neo-classical architecture. The city is the home to so many great sites with architectural heritage.



St. Petersburg is a city of haunting magnificence, an imperial capital that seems to have been built as a monument to its own passing. The beauty of architectural heritage can be seen in the Admiralty, the Winter Palace, the Marble Palace and the Hermitage. With statues, monuments and museums in abundance, it is buildings such as the Church of the Savior on Blood that really makes Saint Petersburg beautiful.
