Wave Rock in Australia - An Amazing Natural Rock Formation in Shape of a Big Wave

The Wave Rock is a natural rock formation that is shaped like a tall breaking ocean wave. Located near the small town of Hyden in the Western Australia, this spectacular rock forms the north side of the Hayden Rock. The Wave Rock is a part of the Hyden Wildlife Park, a natural reserve in Western Australia.

The wave measures nearly 14 meter in height and around 110 meter in length. The shape of the wave is formed by gradual erosion of the softer rock beneath the upper edge, over many centuries. It is thought to have formed about 60,000,000 years ago. The wave is interestingly colorful with vertical stripes of grey, red and yellow. The color is believed to have been caused by the rain washing chemical deposits down the face.

The Wave Rock is one of the major attractions in the Hyden Wildlife Park because of its geological feature and the changing of colors and appearance during different times of the day. Many people visit the Wave Rock every year, one of Australia's major natural wonders.
