Designed to resemble a string of pearls, The Pearl-Qatar in Doha, Qatar, is an artificial island of about four million square meters. Once completed, this huge artificial island will create over 32 kilometers of new coastline 350 meters offshore of Doha's West Bay Lagoon area. Developed by United Development Company and planned by architecture and design firm Callison, The Pearl-Qatar is the first land in Qatar to be available for freehold ownership by foreign nationals.


The Pearl-Qatar is expected to be completed by 2015. Once fully completed, this amazing artificial island will be a secure and exclusive island of multicultural residential community and there will be 15,000 dwellings and 45,000 residents. Currently there are more than 5,000 residents living in this island. The Pearl-Qatar is being built on one of Qatar's previous major pearl diving sites and it will eventually represent Qatar's rich past in the pearl industry.


When the construction is completed, there will be more than 13 artificial islands and 8 of these islands will will be for sale to private owners. Some of the largest islands will feature a range of luxury villas, hotels and apartments. There will be over two million square meters of international retail, restaurants, cafes, and entertainment facilities.
