Rio de Janeiro - Most Beautifully Sited City

Rio de Janeiro is undoubtedly one of the most stunning settings in the world. Sitting on the southern shore of the magnificent Guanabara Bay, it is possibly the most beautifully sited city on the planet. Rio de Janeiro is a marvelous city with breath-taking view.


Rio de Janeiro is a unique city in many ways. It is a city where nature collides with a thrumming metropolis. Rio is a city filled with a diverse mixture of sights, with mountainous backdrops, beautiful sandy beaches, Brazilian shanty towns and skyscrapers all merging together to make a truly unique sight. The proximity to the water makes the view of the city eye arresting.


Rio de Janeiro comprises of two main regions, named the North Zone and the South Zone. It is the South Zone which is known for its tourism and beautiful beaches. There  are many rocky islands fringed with white sand out in the bay. The aerial views over Rio are breathtaking. Even the concrete skyscrapers that dominate the city's skyline add to the attraction.


Rio de Janeiro has a remarkable architectural heritage. Some of the country's best museums and galleries are situated in the city. In addition to the legendary beaches, there are superb restaurants and a vibrant nightlife. Rio de Janeiro is famed for its samba clubs, ocean scenery and spectacular carnival.

Must say it looks to be the most beautiful setting in the world. Certainly beats Cape Town hands down.

I agree. There can be no more scenic setting on this earth than Rio. Can't wait for the World Cup and Olympics.

I've been to Cape Town and was underwhelmed. I think South Africans bang on about it and Table Mountain because they haven't many scenic parts in their country. I think New Zealand is beautiful but haven't visited.

Anyway people waking up in Rio must be the luckiest alive.

I have travelled to several countries in the southern hemisphere and trust me none can hold a candle to stunning Rio. However Hobart comes a pretty close second.
